These are a classic for a reason, a fluffy tea time treat add some clotted cream and some jam and nothing beats these!
8oz Self-Raising Flour
1tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
2oz Butter
2oz Caster Sugar
¼ Pint Milk
Egg or Milk for Glaze
75g Clotted Cream
75g Jam
Rub your butter into your flour, baking powder and salt with your hands until they start to resemble bread crumbs.
Mix in the sugar and then add the milk.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and then cut the dough into circles with a scone cutter. Place these scones onto a baking tray.
Glaze the top of each scone with milk or egg and put them in the oven to bake at 220 degrees celsius for 10-12 mins.
Remove from the oven and serve up with a dollop of cream and your favourite jam.
